The Beneficiaries
Since 1973, the Children's Art Project at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has made life better for children with cancer. Through worldwide sales of young cancer patients' original artwork featured on seasonal note cards and gift items, the project has funded more than $18.5 million worth of programs that benefit cancer patients and their families. Each year, the project offers Holiday, Everyday and Valentine collections of note cards and gift items.
The Scottish Arts Program at St. Thomas’ Episcopal School has been developing world champions for the last two decades. The Bagpipe Band, coming off its most recent World Championship in 2006 in Glasgow Scotland. The Band is now Five Time Juvenile World Champions! The Premier Highland Dancers from St. Thomas also will travel with the band and compete in various international events including the dancing World Championships.
Each year, St. Thomas’ Episcopal School treats Houston to a Scottish Festival Spectacular held in the spring. For years the festival was held at the Compaq Center and now is performed at the Toyota Center. The public is invited and it is truly a Scottish performance that rivals the world famous tattoo held at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland each year. This year's Scottish Festival Spectacular will be held on April 18, 2008 at the Toyota Center.
Both of these exceptional organizations have been serving the children of Houston for decades. Won't you please help benefit them by participating in or sponsoring the Kilts & Clubs Charity Golf Tournament?
